There have been periods of inconsistency the Northside Lady Bears have gone through so far this season.

One thing the Lady Bears have been very consistent in, though, is their ability to turn in a dominating performance inside the friendly confines of Kaundart-Grizzly Fieldhouse.

Northside scored 33 of the first 35 points and also hit seven 3-pointers in the first quarter Tuesday as the Lady Bears went on to a 59-25 win against Webb City, Mo. In three games at Kaundart-Grizzly Fieldhouse, all wins, the average margin of victory for the Lady Bears (5-5) has been 39.3 points.

"Our kids needed a little bit of confidence," Northside coach Rickey Smith said. "We came out and shot the ball great, with several kids hitting 3's and we hadn't been doing that, we hadn't been shooting the ball very well.

"When you make a few shots, your defense is better, your effort's better. ... We've always prided our program on building it around defense, but it sure does make it a lot easier when you shoot the ball well."

The Lady Bears began the game by hitting a pair of two-point shots. Then, Northside got 3's from Fatarah Kinnard, Melanie Smith and Brenna Cooksey in building a 13-0 advantage three minutes into the game.

Webb City got on the board by hitting two free throws, but the Lady Bears then reeled off 20 straight points. The first nine of those points came on three consecutive 3's from Maegan Bandimere.

Cierah Carey then hit Northside's seventh 3 of the opening quarter, giving the Lady Bears a 26-2 lead. Northside then started the second quarter by scoring seven straight points as that lead grew to 31 points, 33-2.

The Lady Bears went on to a 39-6 halftime lead. All six Webb City points came on free throws, as Webb City didn't make a first-half field goal in 18 attempts.

Northside went on to lead by as many as 43 points in the second half, as the Lady Bears built a 55-12 advantage past the midway point of the third quarter.

"The kids play with a little more confidence at home, but we've had a tough schedule," Rickey Smith said. "We've lost some games that we didn't expect to lose and we had big leads in all of them except for two of them.

"We just made some mistakes, missed some shots, missed some free throws, had some turnovers, just the tendencies of a young basketball club. (Tuesday) we played about 10 kids consistently and there wasn't much difference in any of the 10 and if we can get our kids involved by sharing the basketball and limit our turnovers and play that hard, we've got a chance and if we can shoot it like that (Tuesday), we can play with a lot of teams."

Bandimere had 13 points, all coming in the first half. Kinnard also reached double figures with 10 points.

Northside returns to action on Dec. 28 when they will participate in a tournament at Sapulpa, Okla.
