BASEBALL — The Northside Grizzlies were close to clinching a playoff berth Tuesday.

But the Cabot Panthers spoiled the party with a six-run seventh inning and an 8-2 win at Hunts Park.

The Grizzlies (6-22, 3-10) can still clinch post-season play with a head-to-win over Southside on Friday.

Cabot’s Bobby Duncan snapped a 2-2 tie with a go-ahead single and Evan Hooper, Eric Larsen and Kyler Franks followed with run-scoring hits as the Panthers (21-7, 12-1) rallied to beat the Grizzlies.

Northside’s Max Frazier suffered the loss. The Grizzlies led 1-0 after four when Jackson Scrivner, who had walked with one out in the first, scored on a wild pitch.

Joseph Mills walked and scored on Scrivner’s RBI single in the fifth. The Grizzlies eventually loaded the bases before Brett Brockinton struck out Bobby Rauch to end the threat.
