orthside girls soccer coach Maciel Mauricio is still tweaking his roster.

But the team was able to even its 6A-Central record last week with road victory at Little Rock Central.

“We had a couple of girls playing other sports, like basketball, and we have had some injuries, therefore we are still trying to see what is the best combination for the girls team,” Mauricio said. “It also always happens that after a couple of practices the output it’s different, but we have a good picture now. We dominated the game against Central and controlled the match giving the coaching staff confidence that we can be in every game this season. It seems like this year in the Central conference it will be pretty open and everyone is pretty much even.”

The Lady Bears (5-3) host Mount St. Mary on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mauricio’s boys team also evened its conference mark last week.

“It was also good to get a win on the road,” he said. “We are young but we are talented enough to make a good run. We are also trying to find the personnel for a couple of positions.”
