Northside knew it couldn’t dwell on a missed opportunity to sweep a 6A-Central doubleheader Tuesday night at Grizzly Field.

The Lady Bears had to turn right around Wednesday and make a road trip to the Little Rock area for another conference game.

Northside was able to take care of business Wednesday afternoon, leading from the top of the first inning on en route to a 12-1 win against Mount St. Mary.

With the win, the Lady Bears (9-10, 4-6) at the moment stand in sole possession of fifth place in the 6A-Central, a half-game up on Little Rock Central, which overcame a 3-0 deficit to defeat Northside in the second game of Tuesday’s twin bill at Grizzly Field.

On Wednesday, though, Northside led from start to finish, scoring one run in the first, two in the third and four in the fifth for a 7-0 lead. The Lady Bears went up 9-0 in the top of the sixth.

Three players had four hits apiece in the win, with Jenna Wilson going 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Chloe Ray and Cailin Massey also went 4-for-5, with Massey scoring four runs and Ray hitting two doubles, driving in two runs and scoring three more times.

Hannah Entrekin and Kylie Templemeyer each had a pair of RBIs as well.

Massey pitched all seven innings to get the win, allowing one unearned run on four hits. She walked one batter and registered nine strikeouts, and Massey now has struck out 103 batters on the season.
